ASUS P8H77-M PRO New µATX H77 Motherboard H77 Micro ATX DDR3 1600 Intel - LGA 1155 Motherboard Reviews
1 of 1 people found the following review helpful Great motherboard for 3rd gen HTPC or SFF gaming build, Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: ASUS P8H77-M PRO New ATX H77 Motherboard H77 Micro ATX DDR3 1600 Intel - LGA 1155 Motherboard (Personal Computers) I purchased from amazon itself. I am not enamored of associated 3rd party shippers from my previous experience.Very good instructions, good build quality and good drivers. I have had the best luck with ASUS motherboards in the past and so far this one seems to be a winner. I am building a quiet SFF HTPC, so the support for intel integrated graphics and HDMI was very important as well as alternative of adding PCI-E card if necessary. My hope is 3rd gen i5 with intel graphics 4000 should be stutter free on blu-ray and h.264 recorded TV. To maximize the chances I went with i5 3570K and Kingston Technology HyperX 8 GB (2x4 GB Modules) 1600 MHz DDR3 Dual Channel Kit (PC3 12800), which this MB supports. Build went smoothly. I am now running tests to make sure graphics system is up to the task. My previous experience with intel integrated graphics has put me in the "show me" state ;-) See my review of SilverStone Sugo SG02B-F ABS/SECC Steel... The first one from Amazon was essentially dead on arrival. Installed it in a new system build with an Intel Core i7-3770 (Ivy Bridge) CPU and Kingston HyperX 1600 DDR3 DIMMS (2x4-GB) that was listed as compatible memory for this motherboard. Did not install any discrete graphics cards. Power supply is a new Cooler Master 800W Silent Pro Gold.Upon powering up the system, nothing appeared on the monitor. In fact, the monitor indicated there was no signal. Neither a VGA or DVI connection worked, and tried a couple different monitors. Never would boot up to show the Power-On-Self-Test (POST) screen and was not able to enter the BIOS setup routine. Went through all the trouble-shooting routines to no avail. One short beep code, fans turned on. Spoke with ASUS tech support by phone (the tech person answered my call immediately and was very knowledgeable). He confirmed that the board is essentially... Posted on May 25, 2012 9:21:06 AM PDT ASUS Support says: Dear Valued Customer, We apologize for the issue you had with the motherboard. Please try installing one 4GB memory into DIMM_A2 slot (second slot from the left) and see if the system POST. In addition, please try pressing the MemOK! button after boot so the motherboard can attempt to find fail-safe settings on the memory and POST. Have you plugged in both 8-pin and 24-pin power connectors? While the chances of a new power supply failing is less likely, we can't completely rule out that possibility. So if you have another power supply, please also try that. Once you get a replacement board and are still experiencing no POST or have other issues, please call back at 1-812-282-2787 or me directly at cl-benson@asus.com reference #C1037-566. Regards, Benson Great Micro ATX Board for your Sandy Bridge or Ivy Bridge CPU, Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: ASUS P8H77-M PRO New ATX H77 Motherboard H77 Micro ATX DDR3 1600 Intel - LGA 1155 Motherboard (Personal Computers) It took a little time to whittle down all the boards out there.I am partial to Asus. I wanted a micro atx to keep the size down. I didn't care about overclocking. I wanted THunderbolt support. Only a handful of boards have it and this is the least expensive of them. I wanted VGA and DVI, HDMI and Displayport video outs. The Ivy Bridge CPU's will support a triple monitor setup. I wanted eSATA and at least 7 internal SATA I did not want any PCI slots. Based on the above - this is the board. Very happy. Paired with a Ivy Bridge i7 and I can't even hear the fan 6 inches away on my bench - suitable for a HTPC. |
