It's very compact, but still manages to space the USB 3.0 ports out better than some of the competing USB 3.0 hubs. I can actually plug in my huge USB 3.0 'big-toe' flash drive and still be able to use the USB plug next to it.The hub is powered, and I've tested it so far with two simultaneous devices... it seems to be providing plenty of juice for them. As for performance, it appears to be working flawlessly... pushing my USB 3.0 devices as fast as they'll go. From what I can tell, the hub's max throughput is as fast as or faster than any of the devices I currently have to plug in to it. And I can't conclude the review without mentioning the exemplary customer service from the hub's manufacturer. When I received the hub, I was disappointed to note that the included interface cable was too short to reach from my system up to my desk; I would guess they put together... Windows 7 recognized right away. USB3 devices work well, although I have not really benchmarked it and usb 2 devices seem to run faster or is it just me? It is small and very light. I used a velco strip to the desk to keep in place, otherwise if you move a wire that is tangled with it, it will go flying. I'm a very able person when it comes to technology, I tried downloading the newest drivers, anchoring it to a secure surface, and trying different ports, but it still bugs out all the time. When it does work it's really nice and fast, but it's just way too flaky to actually be useful. EDIT: I managed to get this to work by unplugging my computer and draining all the caps in my power supply. Not an ideal solution, but at least it's a solution that offers somewhat consistent results. I stand by my previous statements about the construction, but increasing the rating to 3 stars because it actually does work more reliably now. |
